rachie below was me - probably should post with the same name as i post on the threaded boards for the sake of consistency. likely no one cares, but... ;)

also wanted to say that the casting is EXCELLENT. so far i'm really loving the cast. there's great chemistry between sonya walger and joseph fiennes. it wasn't hard to see her as olivia, instead of having her stuck in my head as penny.

Very intrigued by the show so far. I've been out of town, and just watched the pilot today. Excited for the next episode! High hopes! Hard to imagine there will be another show that I'll be so in love with and obsess over like Lost, but I'm excited about this show all the same.

PaulG223, your question is not a spoiler, so no need to font, but thanks for practicing.

My thinking is that the first few things he put on the board in the pilot, the first things he remembered, he is now going to try and verify. If he can verify some of them, they stay on, and if not, they may come off, or change. As new things either get remembered and verified, or end up there as a follow up to a lead that pans out, they will be put on the board or enhanced in somewhere. No good cop is going to have a board that full of stuff that can not be corroborated, but that does not mean the board may not look different by the time we get to April.

^ v
PaulG223 says:

So i have a question

If Mark is reconstructing his bulletin board based on what he saw in his flashforward wouldn't that mean the only reason they are on the bulletin board is because he saw them in the flashforward. In turn, the only reason they are in the flash forward is because he put them there on that basis. Does this mean none of whats on the board (that he remembered in this episode that is) is valid

Also, i want to be in this show. Although i can't act lol

yo okay so here's what i've got: Oceanic 815 sign in background. (LOST) could kangaroo possibly symbolize Australia? and on April 29, 1971, the US did nuclear weapons testing in Nevada. i looked at part of the summary for the book FlashForward was based on (FlashForward by Robert J. Sawyer) and it said "Tests were done..." hmmm??? btw: DOT2318 could just be a number. Department of Transportation number 2318 (23 and 8 are LOST numbers...) I'm a LOST fanatic btw.

So glad that I was paying attention while watching the premiere, and found this site. Wonder if there will be any websites that are, like, companion pieces, like the Oceanic website was on LOST? You know, that provide more information, more red herrings, and are a tangential part of the mythology?

And, yes, I know this is NOT LOST, but that's the closest touchstone I could come up with. For obvious reasons!!

Hola Tid, long time no read in these parts.

As for the Billboard, yup, saw it, everyone pointed to it during the Paley screening. As for the Perfect Record thing, I seem to remember at comic con an ad for Oceanic that said the same thing. So, I'm thinking that maybe the explosion to destroy the Swan Station in 1977 did actually change the future and maybe flight 815 didn't crash, giving Oceanic a perfect record.

I know the big question is "if you could see a flash of your future, would you embrace it or try to stop it, and if you stopped it, how might that affect other people" but what's got me thinking now is 'are these flashes of the future taking into account the viewer having seen their future, or is it pure?' In other words, does the very act of having seen the flashes change what happens, influence it, cause it, or are the visions of a future that has not been affected by the past where people have seen their futures?

Right now, the entire population of the world has seen a flash of their future. Some will love it, and some will want to run and hide from it or change it. Won't the future for each person change if just one or two people alter their own futures? If a person saw something horrific and the committed suicide in order to avoid it, they won't be there to experience that horrific moment, which would then ripple out ot others. Conversely, if someone sees something wonderful, but rather unexpected, will they have to do something to make that future happen, or is it just going to happen regardless of their actions.

eeeps, I guess I'm getting into the whole 'cause and effect' debate here. Maybe I'll go find a theory page on the TB to discuss this in more details.

Significance of April 29 (or 30th in Europe)...?

April 30th 1945 is the day that Hitler committed suicide. Seeing as we know they eventually talk to a former Nazi about something maybe this has some significance.

Hi there!
I really enjoyed the first episode and can't wait to see what comes next. I'm not going to speculate....yet. I am, however, going to say that as a 5 year LOST addict, there can be little comparison between these two shows since they are two very different stories.
I admit to thinking a few things were like LOST, but only for a few minutes and they were more visual and, I expect, placed purposely.
Love the kangaroo! What's up with the guy in his undies in the middle of the street?

Hey y'all adorable Pandaroos, HOW SICK IS THIS BRILLIANT SHOW, huh??!!!! Yeah, I think it's time for an OMGWTFPANDABEAR (Or Kangaroo as one of you said - LOL - what the HELL is up with that 'Roo, dudes? :D )

Kudos ALL AROUND on a great premiere - not a weak link anywhere in the performance chain, EVERYONE was SO engaging from moment one, amazing pace, LOTS to feel, LOTS of people I'm so looking forward to hanging out with every Thursday night, a truly fascinating mystery to solve...DEAL ME IN for the duration, guys, I LIKE THIS!! :D

Strictly because of physics, anatomy and the architecture of the heart, noooo, I'm sorry, this cannot take the place of or inFRINGE (HAHA, didja see how I just did that!!) on the place LOST has in my heart, but what I'm saying is...there's now a special place in my ticker for this show, man...absolutely. I heart you, too, FlashForward!!

And yep, let's get the "comparison" over with - except for the Oceanic poster, this show ain't paralleling LOST. After the first few minutes (and I'll get to that in a sec) it diverged completely. I say after the first few minutes because the first few minutes were INCREDIBLY like LOST. Joseph Fiennes waking up to chaos and wreckage and screams and the way he surveyed the wreckage - the way we were slowly showed how huge it was, the explosion...ya with me? :) But from then on, you knew you weren't on the Island anymore, right?

David and Marc, you really did it this time, busters, I'm a little fish on your hook - all the success in the world to you and all your creative team.

All the crew making it look, sound and feel so wonderful - thank you!

All ye storytellers (read: CAST)...freakin' BRILLIANT!!

Sonya and John, who we've been blessed to see here already - you blow me away. And Zach, HI!! What a tremendous job you did - a fabulous episode mini-arc for your character, eh? :)

BRAVO and thank you very much!!
Karen

OMG - this is so cool - hi all you 'Lagelings I've missed much and not seen in ages! Carencey, Hallie, Jinx, hey Kailin!, Cheriberrybomb, BrerMatt, Hatori Hanzo - wow, the Old Guard is present - LOL! :D And Quinton , hello, I saw you sneak by the Board - LOL!! And I so DID enjoy, immensely.

Okay, I'm definitely on board, that was a great opening statement.

The comparisons to LOST are obviously going to come thick and fast from fans and critics alike, but aside from the obvious OMGINTENSEMYSTERY?!?! elements, this show felt completely different to me, and very exciting.. in it's own, different way.

Despite obvious parallels to "Guys... where are we?!", I thought that "Who the hell is that.... and why are they awake?!" was pretty much the perfect ending to the Pilot. I found myself wondering during the final act what they could possibly leave us with as a convincing "must-watch-next-week" cliffhanger, and yup, they kinda knocked it outta the park. Sweet.

Also? I thought the extended promo after the episode was pretty awesome.... the GOOD kind of spoilers, hahahaha!

More Demetri theories:

Maybe he's passed
out/unconscious for some reason or
another?

Maybe he's in a coma

And this is going to be a weird one, but
Maybe the visions were "given" to
everyone, and he was just left out either
because if he had that information he would
know too much, or maybe he has an ability,
unlike other people, to change the futures
witnessed in the flashforwards.

I saw what you saw too, Caren. I also so lots of Star Trek-like lens flares. Of course, Fringe has them too.
2009 is the Year of the Lens Flare.

Kudos to the creative team, actors and crew!

Everyone simultaneously time travels six months into the future for 2 minutes 17 seconds, then they come back to normal space time and a lot of them die? I'm going to test the spoiler font function so that newbies can see what it looks like, cause there will be lots of it on this page tomorrow night.

this spoiler is just a test

::this is a test::

When you see the blank space, put your cursor on the start point, left click and drag across the whole space to reveal what's written underneath.

Also, when you choose to write a spoiler and font it, give a heads up of what type of spoiler it might be. I said the above was just a test, so those trying to avoid spoilers know it's actually safe to look at it if they are really interested in my spelling or grammar or some such. Tomorrow, nearly all the spoilers will be about the show currently airing, but at the end of the episode, there will be a preview for the next week, if you decide to mention the preview, spoiler font it and preface it with 'this is next week's preview' so that folks not wanting to be spoiled can choose to look or not.

HELLO to all the new peeps joining us and to some of the old folk from the Fuse!!

*GLOMPS Hattori and diablita*

Just a little heads up, since the premiere is TOMORROW ~

The spoiler rules for this part of the Red Panda boards (aka the Linear Board or LB) will be for everyone to use the spoiler tags until the new episode has finished airing on the West coast (for non-Americans, that is the Pacific Time Zone). Tomorrow night, I'll post one of those shiny ANNOUNCEMENTs in h-font to make sure everyone knows the dealio.

We will be relatively lenient regarding newbies posting spoilers without tagging for the first couple of episodes - we know it can take a few tries to get the hang of spoiler-tagging. But by Episode 1.03, any untagged posts will be deleted and if you repeatedly post spoilers without tagging, you will be banned from posting on the LB.

If you are new to the site and plan to be joining us here to post during the airing of the Pilot tomorrow night, I suggest you experiment with the spoiler tags now. We won't laugh at you - PROMISE! Here is how they work:

<spoiler>Post spoiler here</spoiler>

FYI - there will be a "Watching Live" thread for both the East Coast and West Coast on the Threaded Board of RPR where you will not have to use spoiler tags during the episode. If forums are more your speed, that may work out better for your viewing experience.

Looking forward to tomorrow night!!!

yukailin ~ Thanks for the time slot info :)

Carencey ~ I have the list of hex colors assigned to Red Panda VIPs. I had to have Karri adjust some of them because of the grey. So far the darker, non fluorescent colors look the best. Maybe you can get Karri to give you the same color pink that is in the Admin note at the top of the scroll. I don't think I've given anyone that exact color.

See - it's a week and one day away from the premiere of FF and we are talking about VERY IMPORTANT STUFF...like font colors *WEG*

:( expensive dance class conflicts with both FF and Fringe's initial airings, alas. (Nah, not cheating on y'all with another show, just real life!) I should be able to get through it before the West Coast airing though, DVR permitting.

The pink is actually the same that I use on the Fuselage and Fringe Division, it just doesn't contrast with the gray very well. Have some darker pinks in mind that shouldn't be confused with hijinx's grapey font, but have to see which VIPs are using what already.

^ v
yukailin says:
(Tue Sep 15 21:19:09 2009 144.228.75.238)
Oi, why so Pink, Carencey? Me thinks you need more oomph to your color on this board, to be sure.

As to the question regarding timeslots, I also asked over on the VIP thread and here is what DSGoyer had to say "The show is airing on Thursdays AND Fridays. Thursdays at 8:00, then again on Friday, at 10:00, I believe. But it's "home" is Thursday nights."

So, that should resolve things. As to moderating, you may end up having to visit both days, cause you know there will be Thursday peeps and Friday peeps bumping into each other here.

I get to see the pilot tonight, along with SamG, at the Paley Center Fall Pilot Preview event for ABC. Squeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Eeek! Yeah, Carencey, you need to get Karri to give you an Alt color for this board - like me :) I couldn't see my goldenrod here, so I switched to this purplely one. I'm still goldenrod on the other boards, though.

I'm told we may be getting a visit from YET ANOTHER VIP of the actor persuasion here soon, so stay tuned.....

Great site. Awesome to see the trailers on TV, and I am glad that I picked up the hidden URL while watching WipeOut last night. Not sure how closely you watched what your competition (Heros) did with their viral marketing, but I hope that you can keep it more interesting. The wiki and other tools that evolved when the other show first started had me spending hours getting psyched for the following weeks episode. I have been playing with computers for over 30 years both and home and at work and I really feel like some of these social networking tools are even more impactful than email was when it first came out. It all spreads in a FLASH (Pun intended).

What are the complete list of titles for Flashforward and do you have teasers - log lines that you will post, if so when will they be made available? Like will you have something ready for the next 3-4 episodes on this site soon? I would love to get the titles and teasers... you only list the pilot, but, other titles are out on the net - like, White to Play, 137 Sekunden, and Black Swan. Still there are no one liner teasers for these, and I thought this site might be a great access point for that time of information.

the show. This is so weird, writing into the
void. Except that you're out there, right...

First things first: no, I don't know if Penny's
coming back. I wish I did, I'm not being coy,
no one tells me anything. I do have my
hands full with this show and could not be
more thrilled about it. The scripts are
amazing, unpredictable, so fun to read and
even more fun to do; I cannot wait to see
what they look like, and can't quite believe
that the air date is fast approaching. Thank
you one and all for the excitement and
support. you won't be disappointed.

till we meet again
Sonya

Yes, Quinton, she really won one of the 4 Heroes Nissan Cubes. But my sister has Down Syndrome and no drivers license, so it took NBC legal and Nissan several weeks to decide if she was truly eligible, and they just told me Thursday night that she was. So, once we fill out and turn in the affidavit of eligibility and the W-9, we will be able to pick up the car.

So yes, contests like that really do work as they are supposed to. Now I just need her to pick my lotto numbers.

Actually, yukailin ~ I am not enforcing the spoiler tagging rule when it comes to FF characters at this point. As I explained HERE on the TB, I am taking a "wait and see" approach to spoilers for FF, especially when it comes to minor stuff like episode titles, character names and guest stars. On LOST, those things were sometimes revealing of the character centricity of the episode or alluded to potential reveals (aka the first time the name of "Charles Widmore" showed up in a call sheet). For now, I see no reason for us to be so vigilant about those types of spoilers.

The addition of Gabrielle Union to the cast has been widely covered in the media and details of her character have started to pop up this week. I see no reason for that to be considered spoilery.

This is a different show and a different board, which will in turn spawn a different community. Yes, there is some definite crossover of Fusers, but the policing of all the boards rests on the shoulders of the Admins/Mods - who have been made aware of the change in spoiler policy for the Red Panda boards. I appreciate that you are trying to help welcome new members, but in this case it is only making things more confusing. In the future, feel free to PM me or one of the Mods if you feel there is a post on the LB that needs attention.

For the tl;dr crowd - vika's post is fine and does not need to be spoiler-fonted :)

^ v

vika, welcome to these boards, this show looks like it's going to be amazing.

I'm not sure if you have been around the Fuselage or anything, but if not, you may want to check out the site FAQ, especially regarding Spoiler Fonting and when to use it. A perfect example would be the information you just posted about character interactions in episodes that have not yet aired. Hopefully a Moderator will come along and spoiler font that for you, unless you set up a password and are able to edit the post yourself.

Again, the FAQ can help you figure out what I'm talking about here. That doesn't take away the fact that I am looking forward to seeing the same intelligent handling of this situation as you are. It just needs to be spoiler fonted is all.

Spoiler font alert to Hijinx, partyman, halfrek, carencey, etc.

I found out that Gabrielle Union and John Cho's characters will be a couple on FForward a couple of days ago, and I was so excited for that! Props to the writers, producers, actors etc for giving an interracial couple (of a less commonn pairing too!) visibility on mainstream tv. I have faith that the issue of an interracial relationship will be handled intelligently!

And I have a (completely unrelated) question for John:

I read a bio of you the other day, and it said you acted in the Singapore Repertory Theatre's production of Hamlet in 1997. As I was born in Singapore I'm interested to know if this is true!

Jhon Cho: I am genuinely excited to see what you will bring to the mix in this show. Judging from the (limited!) info we have had so far it seems to be a great role to apply your versatility to. Glad to hear you are enjoying it so far., and thanks for stopping by. Don't be a stranger!

Friends, John Cho here. I play Demitri Noh.
Very cool to see so much excitement about
the show - I thank you in advance for your
support. Just finished episode 4, entitled
"the one where Chandler and Joey make
spaghetti." So far, it's been an
overwhelmingly positive experience for me
as an actor, as I've been given the
opportunity to do a lot of things I've not had
the chance to do in one project. The cast -
guest cast included - has been superb, and
the writing is extraordinary. Reading a
flashforward script feels like the kind of
reading I did as a kid with Sherlock Holmes
stories and Edward Rice Burroughs and tv like
the twilight zone, though my excitement is
probably partly due to my not knowing
anything about what the hell is coming
(damn you goyer!). ok, will stop for now,
promise to drop in periodically. seacrest out.

Hello Seth, Quinton & everyone behind the scenes!

After being blown away by the FlashForward scenes that you unveiled at Comic-Con, I am even more intrigued by the possible character connections and Easter Eggs. I was very impressed by the cast chemistry both on the panel and in the press room (especially John Cho & Joseph Fiennes), and look forward to watching that interaction on screen. Of course, the addition of Dominic Monaghan is a tremendous bonus, as well as Gabrielle Union. I am also a big fan of Sonya Walger, and thought her Comic-Con video was hysterical.

Will Alex Kingston play a recurring character, or Shohreh Aghdashloo?

As for recording my personal FlashForward video at the Mosaic Task Force booth...what a fascinating and fantastic interactive experience! It will probably be obvious that I watch far too much television, because I feel as though my story consisted of vignettes from various sci-fi series', inadvertently pasted together in a three minute ramble. :)

I look forward to reading the posts here and on the threaded board - thank you for letting us in on the ground floor!

Seth-Nice ta "meet" you, and good luck with
the show. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
It's an intriguing premise, and also a show
loaded with on and off screen talent.

To answer your question, I'm very interested
in how this show sets up its
mystery/mythology and carries it through
from episode to episode. It certainly seems
like every show of this type has to meet the
challenge of how much to reveal and how
much to hold back. It's certainly a fine line
between raising the audience's curiosity and
frustrating them.

I saw the message boards up the other day, didn't occur to me that the linear board would also be up.

Hello to my fellow Lostkateers from the Fuse, and hello to the early bird VIPs who have all jumped in with both feet. This is going to be fun, being able to talk shop a bit before the show starts so you all have a real feel for what our reactions mean in the general scheme of things.

I was also at comic con and was so glad I made it to your panel. The first two acts looked great. Since I live in LA and the show is set here, I can't tell you how creepy cool it was to see some of that action in locations I know. In fact, I think I'll be the first to pull out some spoiler font and ask a more specific question.

::So, with the big car wreck on the overpass over the 110 freeway in Downtown, and the reveal that there were wrecks all up and down the 110, all the side streets, etc, did you CGI all of that, or did you get to close down the freeway for a day to film some of that stuff? ::

Oh, and I loved Sonya's video greeting of the comic con crowd, that was truly a classic comic con video.

I'm sorry I never made it to the booth, I didn't actually know where it was.

I'm also looking forward to meeting a new set of characters. As you know, we all become very attached to the characters we like. Hey there, Seth, thanks and happy to meet you! I agree with Starrox that I'm just anxiously awaiting more exposure to the show, but I guess my answer is that I can't wait to meet the characters - I'm a people person! People and their reactions in the face of circumstances that take them way out of their personal "boxes" - now that's good drama in the making, right?

If you're proud of it, that's the best sign - we'll be proud of it too, I'm sure. Your viewers are/will be a bunch ready to be challenged - you'll pull it off, never fear!

My own forum? Very cool.

BrerMatt, you ask a great question. There are actually two things to which I'm most looking forward. One is more self-centered, the other has to do with the show as a whole.

1) The start of production for my first episode. It's always a thrill when your first episode of a series gets produced. Sitting on new sets, hearing your words come out of the mouths of new actors (who, by the way, are amazing... I have to commend our fantastic casting director Wendy O'Brien on the work she's done). It's gonna be a blast.

2) As for the show as a whole, I'm really looking forward to see if we (as a writing staff) can pull this thing off. David and Brannon wrote such an incredible pilot... now it's our responsibility to match that effort week after week. It's not an easy show to write... it's so intricate and there's so much story to tell. But so far, I'm really proud of all the work we've done.

Now I throw it back to all of you. What aspects of the show are you all most looking forward to?

ETA: Quinton - I know that JOpinionated was at SDCC and participated at The Mosaic booth. Hopefully once she's more recovered (*snerk*), she'll share more about the experience :)

This is very cool - I can't wait to follow along and contribute when possible!

The FlashForward footage that I saw at Comic-Con was incredibly compelling and beautifully shot; I am in for the long run (which is 21 years, if you ask Courtney B. Vance). Easily the best new series footage I've seen since the Lost pilot in 2004. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Just got in from SDCC. Exhausted, but psyched about everything I saw. Got great books from James Jean, Darwyn Cooke, etc. The Mosaic Booth was swamped! What did you guys think? What fun stuff did you pick up / see / hear about?

I get the same feeling Starrox!! Surr!! It has been so long.
BrerMatt : you are quick on the spoiler font!

Welcome Marc,Quinton and David!! Prepare to be pounced when those colors arrive. Lurkers come out of the shadows to ask questions. Which I am sure hijinx has already informed you. Glad to see you here gents. We appreciate the interaction!

Yay! Marc's here, too!

PROMISE y'all will have VIP colors by tomorrow. Alas, I need Karri or Artie to get the font colors added. I'd rather not screw up the board trying to figure it out on my own :P

Hello? Hello? Is this mic on...?

Howdy, everyone. My name's Marc
Guggenheim and I'm one of the writers of FF.
Thanks for showing the show some love so
early.

At some point before the premiere, I'll reveal
what caused the Flashforwards, so keep
checking the site...

(Disclaimer: I probably won't spoil the
premise of the show, but it's fun to dangle
that.)

Best,
Marc

YES, that is REALLY David S. Goyer posting as dsgoyer. Working on getting him and Quinton their colors.

Yes, Red Panda is up and running and our
various cast and crew members will begin
interacting. Quinton (one of our writers)
dropped in first. But myself, Guggenheim, and
others will be dropping in as well. We'll try to
get John Cho on here in the next few weeks, as
he's probably the most tech literate of our
actors. More to come...

Welcome FlashForward Fans!

For anyone who is here because of David's blog entry mentioning the site or who attended the FlashForward panel at Comic Con -

Please pardon our mess :) We are still working out the kinks of this page of the site (yes, we're going to fix the colors), BUT IN THE MEANTIME you can check out the regular forum by either clicking on the "Red Panda Resources Threaded" link at the top right of the page or just clicking HERE.

Can't wait to talk FF with all of you!!
